Good morning, friends!

Lately, I've seen a lot of books through Finish The Story that come in labeled 'romance' only to discover that, in fact, they are not.  They are good fiction, some even good fiction with romantic elements, but they are not...romance.

This coincides with some observations I've made at some different conferences I've gone to, where the majority audience isn't a romance reader.  There seems to be a common misunderstanding that if a book involves romance at all, if that human emotion of love is present, the author is composing (or has composed) a romance.

Unfortunately, that's not so.

So what constitutes a romance?

There is a generic 'formula' that is often espoused as being the core of romance: boy meets girl, boy gets girl, boy looses girl, boy wins girl for a happily ever after.  This is mostly true, but that really over-simplifies things and doesn't always cover all the bases.  I prefer this:  A romance novel is centered on the developing relationship between the hero and the heroine.  Everything that happens in the book therefore relates and impacts that relationship in some way.

Conversely, in other genre works where there are romantic elements, the core of the book is not founded on that romantic relationship.  In other words, the romantic relationship is secondary to the plot.

One Key Determinant

It's true -- to be a romance the book has to have a happily ever after ending.  The girl has to get her guy.  Really, I'm a pretty hard core believer that there are no exceptions to this.  (excluding a series where the hero/heroine are dancing around each other and that romantic relationship carries over into the forthcoming books...but that's a fine-line and not generally applicable to this discussion.)

So, if your book is like dear Mr. Tearjerker Sparks.... you don't have a romance.  You may have a love story, but you don't have a romance.  If your book ends like Gone With the Wind, you don't have a romance.  If your book ends like I Am Legend, you don't have a romance.

The couple must be together, solidly, at the end of the book.

Do I have to have all that mushy / hot sexy stuff?

A romance does not need to have graphic sexual scenes included.  There are many, many romances that do not.  Many are inspirational (faith-based), many will allude to the dirty deed and leave the reader to imagine what happened.  Others go all the way and throw that bedroom door wide open.  The heat level doesn't relate to whether it's a romance or not--which is also why erotica is not erotic romance.  It all boils down to the focus of the plot.  If you're saving the world from flying monkeys you're not writing a romance, unless that is an external conflict to the core plot of two people building a forever relationship.

It really is that simple.

So to sum it up, it really is that simple.  Look at your manuscript and answer these two questions:

1.  Is my entire plot goal to bring two people into a forever relationship
2.  Do I have a happily ever after

If the answer is yes to both, chances are you have a romance on your hands.  If it's not, you're probably writing something else and have incorporated a human emotion everyone in this world can relate to -- love.

Hi, everybody!

I've been talking about the companion novella to The Curse of the Templars for a while now, and in case you haven't heard, it releases on March 12th!  It falls between Immortal Surrender and Immortal Trust (Mar 26).  In keeping with the Tuesday Teaser theme, I'm bringing you the first part of chapter one today.

Remember, this is a digital novella.  As such, the excerpted material is shorter than would be included for a full length novel.

Immortal Protector
The Curse of the Templars, Companion Novella
March 12, 2013
Pre-Order Now!

After the brutal murder of his seraph, Iain Donnelly's salvation is eternally lost. Damned to become a dark knight of Azazel, he can no longer embrace his immortal purpose as a Templar Knight. When the archangels send him on Sabbatical to find his faith once more, his quest leads him straight into the forbidden arms of a Benedictine Sister, whom Azazel is threatening.  But this woman arouses far more than his protective instincts.  He wants her as he's wanted no other woman, and he's willing to provoke the archangels’ fury to keep her safe.

Catherine Grady has devoted herself to the fellowship of faith and forged a path of eternal dedication to a higher calling.  But when a traffic accident forces her to accept Iain's aid, she discovers that her chosen path is not what her heart craves.  Iain awakens a buried yearning to be needed and loved in a way her broken childhood denied her.  As she struggles to reconcile her desires, she stumbles into the truth about her heritage, ancient secrets, and unholy danger.  Iain's immortality is all that can protect her.

For Iain, it's an impossible choice.  The archangels have decreed if he walks away from the Templar, they will reclaim his soul.  Yet returning to the Order only guarantees his inevitable death…

One

Kansas City, Missouri

Iain Donnelly was so preoccupied by the easy way he succumbed to Lady Anne’s determination to stow upon him the title of errand boy that he failed to execute the proper turn on his sheet of directions. He swore beneath his breath as 14th Street rolled by.

It had taken very little persuasion in truth. Merrick’s wife had a gentle but firm way about her that few of the Templar Knights could resist. In no time at all, Iain found himself agreeing to drive to the Salvation Army drop-off point, pick up the heavy leather couch she had purchased, and deliver it to Tane du Breuil’s new center for homeless teens. Tane, the traitor no less. Though in truth, Iain had not been present when Tane damned himself, and he held no opinion on his fellow knight’s status within the Order. Lady Anne had made peace with him, the archangels discussed restoring him to duties, and Merrick . . . well the North American commander of the Knights Templar had never been particularly soft of heart.

Iain glanced at the approaching street sign, intending to circle around the way he had come, only to discover a one-way sign. Damnation! He had turned himself around thoroughly, and the vile streets of Kansas City seemed intent on forbidding his escape. Where, in the name of all things sacred, was this accursed Truman Road? This grid-layout was no better than the narrow, twisty roads of Europe, despite what the Americans claimed.

He turned and headed down the one-way road, hoping the next corner would offer a ready solution. Sabbatical had never been less enjoyable. At least he could take a measure of relief in the fact he did not still sit in the bowels of the temple, attempting to find faith in the purpose he served and make peace with the knowledge he would die.

Iain hit the brakes as a flash of yellow entered his peripheral vision. In the next instant, a bright red Jeep shot into the intersection ahead of him. A horn blared angrily. His own tires squealed in chorus with the yellow convertible’s.

His pickup truck screeched to a halt. In front of him, the convertible sat helpless as the Jeep’s front bumper plowed into its polished chrome grill. The crunch of metal echoed off the brick buildings. Glass shattered as headlights exploded onto the pavement. The convertible spun sideways, pushed along by the momentum of the speeding Jeep. Its passenger door smashed into an ornate, green lamppost. Then everything went still, including the passersby on the street.

Iain’s heart pounded. Had he hesitated a moment longer, he too would be part of the twisted mess of tangled automobiles. Not that he would have known harm, nay, immortality prevented such. But he could be responsible for injury to another. As he had been responsible only a few short months ago.

He stuffed the rising memory down with a grimace and opened his door to investigate whether the colliding drivers suffered injury. He could not pass through the intersection, could not turn around—at least he could make himself useful. Judging from the appearance of the convertible, quite likely the driver needed aid.

Halfway across the street, the yellow car’s driver’s side door creaked open. Relief swept through Iain as a young blond woman stumbled to her feet. He increased his pace to a jog and swiftly crossed to her. “Are you injured, mademoiselle?”

Startled, she turned to look at him, and the prettiest pair of pale blue eyes Iain could ever recall seeing met his. Her shock was evident. Though she was already fair, her skin took on the color of ash. She held on to the crinkled door frame as if she might topple over at any moment, and the nod she gave him came with such hesitance he wondered whether she comprehended his question.

Iain laid his hand over her white-knuckled grip. “Mademoiselle, are you harmed?” he repeated with concern.

Slowly, those blue eyes focused, and awareness registered in her expression. A hesitant, embarrassed smile touched the corners of her mouth. “I-I’m . . . fine.” She cleared her throat, but when she spoke again, the nervous vibration in her voice remained. “I . . . got turned around. I didn’t know it was a one-way—”

“You stupid bitch!”

The furious masculine bellow came from behind Iain. He looked over his shoulder to find the Jeep’s owner storming across the pavement, his face a mask of rage.

“Can’t you see the fucking signs? It’s one way through here! Let me guess, you were texting or something.”

Venom dripped from the man’s voice. He thrust his hand out, grabbing for what, Iain did not know. But the way the woman shrunk away swept Iain back in time. In a flash he remembered terror within another maid’s lovely blue eyes. Fear that lingered despite the smile she had somehow found for him those long centuries ago.

Before he realized what he was doing, he grabbed the man by the shirtfront, whirled him around, and pinned him against the hood of the woman’s demolished car. “Do not think of touching her.”

Strong fingers plied at Iain’s wrists. “Get your hands off me, asshole.”

Iain tightened his grip. “You will take yourself across the street, where you shall wait until the police arrive. Away from the lady. Is this understood, good sir?”

Bushy eyebrows drew together as the man scowled. Beneath two days’ worth of stubble, his lips pursed. A moment of silence strained between them, and then, he offered a short, succinct nod.

Iain released him, backed up a step, and folded his arms across his chest. From the corner of his eye, he noticed the woman stood a bit taller. He kept his attention focused on her assailant, however, watching as the driver of the Jeep crossed the intersection and began to pace on the opposite sidewalk. Iain gave the woman a smile. “You are certain you are not injured?”

She exhaled. “Just a little shaken.” With a shy smile, she extended her hand. “I’m Catherine. Thanks for getting rid of him.”

Iain clasped her smaller hand, captured once more by the uncanny way she resembled a maid he had not considered in centuries. Ella. Saints’ teeth, she too had difficulty holding his gaze. Though Ella had possessed entirely different, far more dangerous reasons for looking at her toes.

Nevertheless, Catherine’s faint blush warmed him. He squeezed her hand affectionately. “And I am Iain. Iain Donnelly.”

Wide, compelling blue eyes lifted once more to his. Their palms touched for a heartbeat too long. Where her soft skin met his, his nerves prickled. Pleasant. Her touch was most pleasant indeed. His pulse skipped several beats.

Catherine’s fingers let go, forcing Iain to do the same. He took a step back, all too aware of her nearness. As a rule, women’s perfumes offended his nose. But something about the faint whiff of fragrance that drifted to his awareness made him want to breathe deeply. He tempered the urge, shifted his weight. For the first time in eons, he could not think of a single word to speak.

The wail of approaching sirens broke the odd, heavy cloud that draped around them. Catherine blinked, as if she were once more drawn from some far away place, then bent inside her open car door. “I guess I better have my insurance ready.”

Though ’twas most improper, Iain could not stop himself from inspecting the slight indentation of her narrow waist. Nor could he keep his gaze from dropping to her backside, no matter how he ordered it to remain locked safely on her shoulders. When he observed the way her faded denim jeans molded against a perfectly shaped bottom, warmth infused his veins.

She backed out of the car, and he quickly averted his stare. Saints’ toes, she was most lovely.

And he had no business entertaining such thoughts. Not when his stay in America would soon end, and he would again return to the calling of the Templar, fighting Azazel’s foul creations until his soul became as black as the things he slayed.

Most certainly not when he had recently failed to protect his own seraph from a horrific end.

“Do you require a ride somewhere?” The question popped free before he consciously became aware of the thought.

The blare of sirens whined to a stop beside the Jeep that remained in the middle of the intersection, forbidding Catherine’s reply. Behind the police car, another rolled to a stop, its light bar flashing, sirens blessedly silenced. Two men filed out from both patrol cars. The pair from the first moved around the parked Jeep, inspecting it as the second pair approached Catherine.

“You all right, ma’am?” one drawled, though his gaze remained sharp and alert.

“I’m fine,” Catherine answered. “The whole mess is my fault. I got lost and turned down the wrong way.”

Iain cocked an eyebrow. So she was honest then as well. Entirely too many years had passed since he witnessed such merit in humankind. But then, until he came to America to escape the hellish nightmares of Europe and his murdered seraph, Bianca, he had little cause to interact with modern mortals.

From across the street, her pudgy bully yelled, “Give that bitch a ticket!”

Once more, Catherine shriveled. Iain bit down a fierce rush of anger. Hundreds of years of warrior instincts rose, and he took a step forward, placing himself between Catherine and the man across the street. Which also placed him between her and the officers, earning him a reproachful, lifted brow.

“He has already attempted to assault her person,” Iain explained. “Mayhap you should speak to him first, so he will leave.”

The shorter officer nodded at his dark-haired partner. “You head on over, Dane. I’ll finish up here. Shouldn’t take long.”

Dane nodded, reached into his front shirt pocket to withdraw a tablet and pen, and strode off across the street. The other turned to Catherine. “Officer Martinez, ma’am. Care to tell me what happened? Let’s start with your name. May I see your license please?”

Good morning!  It's been a while since we've done a Sunday post.  If you'll remember, they used to be Sunday Sixes.  But the official group that coordinated the Internet-wide Sunday Six endeavor shut down Sunday Sixes.  I've modified it to my own Sunday Sevens.  It was too fun to just let fade away.

So without further ado, this is from Immortal Protector, a companion novella in The Curse of the Templars  -- which you can pre-order now for just $1.99!

He was on sabbatical, his vows temporarily set aside whilst he searched to find his purpose. He did not owe the Order that had damned him this rare lightness of heart he had not experienced in centuries.

“Catherine,” he began, his voice unsteady. He cleared his throat, tightened his grip on the steering wheel. “I return home in a short while. But I should like to see you again.”

She went absolutely still.

Savage Angel
The Earth Angels, Book II
Carina Press

Feel nothing. Sara Savitch's personal mantra has been hard to live by ever since her torrid one-night stand with army doctor Gideon Mandeville. Descended from the Seraphim, angels known as heaven's soldiers, Sara may be an expert fighter, but she's an amateur when it comes to relationships.

Physically unharmed, but still battle-scarred, Gideon has returned to Dallas in the hopes of regaining his faith in humanity—and in himself. Instead he's walked into a nightmare. His father is on a serial killer's hit list, and has hired a personal bodyguard—the very woman who has haunted Gideon's dreams for a year.

As Sara works to build an impenetrable fortress around her client, she yearns to tear down the one around Gideon's heart. With his bitter rejection of warriors, will he ever be able to accept her true nature? Sara must find a way to trust Gideon with her secret as the killer closes in…

Stacy, the blog is all yours!

Super Powers, Old School-Style!

Before we begin, I’d like to thank Claire for allowing me to bounce onto her blog today to talk about my latest release, SAVAGE ANGEL, book 2 in The Earth Angels series published by Carina Press!

*stands up* Hi. My name is Stacy. And I’ve been a closet geek my whole life.  As a kid, I collected Hello Kitty and Smurfs (if they’re made anywhere other than Germany, DON’T BUY THEM, they have no value).  I can tell you who the original X-Men were, and that Han shot first.  Even better, my geekdom was shared by my brother, the quintessential comic book collector, complete with organized file boxes and plastic sleeves to keep them pristine.  And yeah, I read every single one of those suckers, whether he gave me permission or not!  Where was the harm?  I always put them back into their plastic sleeves. :P

Years ago, when we didn’t have work schedules, kids and deadlines hanging over our head (read: Adult Life), we got to talking about how cool it would be to have “super-powered heroes” from mythology (like Thor) make some kind of appearance in the modern-day world.  And that’s where my idea for the descendants of the original Nephilim first appeared.

Thousands of years ago there was supposedly a race of human-angel hybrids known as the Nephilim—a race that was wiped out by the Great Flood because they weren’t part of heaven’s plan.  But then Goliath, a descendant of the Nephilim, shows up a couple thousand years later, and his very existence proves to biblical scholars that some Nephilim escaped extinction, and procreated.  As a concept, I totally loved it!

In The Earth Angels series, I take this concept and go allllll out. I sat down and imagined in detail what the 21st-century descendants of various angels would be like if I were in charge of the universe.  Then I combined those ideas with the most popular themes of the paranormal world—a superhero, a soldier, a hero struggling with lost powers, and a lover-turned-fighter.  Then, I dreamed up what all paranormal protagonists need—a VILLAIN.  The 2nd story in The Earth Angels series, SAVAGE ANGEL, is the book that officially unveils this villainous threat to all the Nephilim—a threat that was only glimpsed in the first novella, NOBODY’S ANGEL (though I’m sure some sharp-eyed readers have spotted the bad guy by now ^_^).

Luckily Sara Savitch is the one who’s hot on the trail of the danger threatening them all, and no one is better suited to unleash otherworldly war on a vicious enemy.  Sara’s a descendant of the Seraphim, heaven’s soldiers, and hard-wired to protect everyone around her.  There’s no martial art she hasn’t mastered, and no weapon she can’t handle on an expert level.  But when it comes to social skills… oy.  She’s worse than all thumbs, the poor dear.  Her Achilles’ heel is Gideon Mandeville, an Army doctor fresh from the front lines who’s dealing with problems of his own.  Throw in white-hot attraction, a complicated history between these two and a serial killer that might have a demon in his closet, and things get crazy fast for Sara and Gideon.

Now that I’ve finished The Earth Angel series, I’m so thrilled I can now let my geek-flag fly openly and without shame.  There are more of us out there who love the paranormal than you might think, so go ahead and embrace you inner geek.  Come to find out, it’s the new cool.

Question:  Confession time!  Do you have absolute geek-out love for something you keep hidden from your friends and family?  (I think mine is still Hello Kitty :D )

Let's take a peek at Savage Angel real quick, then we'll get to the giveaway stuffs!

“Let’s make this quick,” she announced without preamble, heading over to the desk and gesturing an invitation toward the chairs on the opposite side of it. “I have a meeting waiting for me, along with about a fifty other things that need to get done before noon. And in future, I’d appreciate it if you would call and make an appointment the next time you want a face-to-face.”

“An appointment? For me?” Refusing to even look at the chairs she’d indicated, Gideon kept his distance and stayed by the windows, his expression so remote he looked as unapproachable as the moon. “Do you insist all your lovers do that, or is it just me?”

She hoped her swift intake of breath was something only she heard. “You’ve made it apparent we don’t have that kind of relationship and after yesterday, I’m forced to agree with you. You’re not my lover, or boyfriend, or even acquaintance. We’re strangers, and I have no problem keeping it that way.”

“Except for the small fact that strangers don’t usually have mind-blowing sex up against the garage wall, do they?”

Her fingers curled into her palms, and she wondered if her face looked as neon-red as it felt. “And here I was, thinking you’d forgotten about that.”

Good morning, everyone!  I hope you've recovered from Valentine's Day appropriately and that you enjoyed it to the fullest.

Welcome to today's Fantasy Friday.  I have Murder on Mars to share with you today, written by the wonderful M.M. Shelley.  She's going to tell us a little about why she chose New Orleans as the setting for this series today too.  Let's jump right in, shall we?

Murder on Mars
A New Orleans Mystery book 1
Genre: Fantasy and Suspense
ISBN: 13: 978-1480250062
ASIN: B00AF2MXCG

Amazon / Sony e-reader / Smashwords

A paranormal force has lured Ava to New Orleans, where shadows lurk behind every corner and an unknown power has yet to be unleashed.

There is darkness in New Orleans, one that has brought sixteen year old Ava Lopez to the city in search of her best friend, Dyson. A dark crime has been committed, and there are supernatural forces involved. Three sisters who whisper "fate" are awaiting the arrival of the Guardian.

Shadow People fiercely haunt the city, unchallenged, but Ava senses that Dyson may be involved with their crimes. She must discover the secret that the Shadows are so determined to keep hidden.

Ava will have to risk everything, because where the Fates are concerned there are no second chances.

Book Trailer: http://youtu.be/4hOL-Xt1kR0

Thank you Claire for having me over today, when I began work on my YA fantasy/suspense I knew the setting would be in New Orleans, LA as I had spent some time there and found it to be an incredible place. There are many layers to New Orleans with much depth and I knew this would be the perfect setting for Murder on Mars (A New Orleans Mystery).

Ava, an heiress who also happens to be an orphan, has arrived in New Orleans in search of her childhood friend, Dyson.  They both attend school in New York City. New Orleans is seen through Ava’s eyes and her experiences, some of which were my own, but I won’t disclose which ones those were.

Dyson, who is Ava’s childhood friend and who has gone missing, has always lived the life of privilege. He has the tendency to gamble and the risks are always big, but he enjoys the rush and finds it additive.  Dyson’s family has multiple properties and homes in New Orleans, one of which is located in the Garden District.

While I was in New Orleans I took a walking tour of the Garden District, it was a lovely tour and along the way I spoke to the other tourist. Since this was a ghost tour we talked about all the scary stories we had heard in town regarding the tour. As we walked up and down the fabulously beautiful streets with perfectly manicured lawns and gardens I knew without a doubt that I would love to visit the Garden District again and preferably spend more time there. Each house that we came to had its own gothic story, a tale of injustice or an unhappy tale. These houses all had an eerie story attached to them, beautiful on the outside but with hidden secrets on the inside.

One of the first places I visited while in New Orleans was St. Louis Cathedral located in Jackson Square. There was a feeling of peace and calmness to the Cathedral, as it towered above Jackson Square almost like a fierce armored warrior ready for any challenge. As I sat in a pew, I couldn’t help but to think of the images of hurricane Katrina that had been flashed by the media during that horrific storm. The images of a broken city, that seemed nearly lost.

[Claire visited this place at the Fantasy On the Bayou Conference in 2011 -- AWESOME!]

Yet, the Cathedral had remained strong and untouched by the chaos, almost like a guardian. It’s how I envisioned my protagonist, Ava Lopez, she inhabited a world where shadow people were wrestling away control and amassing power. And in a city she knew nothing about she would have to find a way to rescue her childhood friend.

Thank you, M.M. for stopping in and sharing these details.  The Cathedral is truly very inspiring, and I absolutely have to agree New Orleans makes for an ideal setting!

Happy Valentine's everyone!

Please welcome Jeffe Kennedy to the blog today.  She's going to talk about her new releases, Platinum (which look smokin' hot! and releases February 25th) and the first in her Facets of Passion series, Sapphire.  Jeffe's also going to tell us a little about her journey to writing.

Platinum
Facets of Passion, Book II

Althea Grant is doing fine. Sure, her Charleston gallery is suffering from the bad economy, and her artistic aspirations have gone nowhere. But she’s happy enough. When rugged metal sculptor Steel rides up on his motorcycle looking to rent studio space, his infusion of cash is more than welcome. But his art is raw, visceral, sexual—and completely inappropriate for her pastel world of watercolor landscapes.

Steel, fascinated by Althea’s rare albino coloring, sees in her the key to his next piece: a metal satyr that can be used for bondage games. Moving into her gallery basement is the first step; seducing the coolly polite lady into modeling for him is the second.

As Steel peels away her careful manners and tasteful outfits, Althea begins to realize her life isn’t just fine at all—it’s as pale and washed-out as the watercolor paintings she’s failing to sell. Can she transform her life and accept her most secret desires?

And now I'll turn the blog over to Jeffe!

Many years ago, after my stepson had graduated from high school, he asked to move in with us while he looked for a job. We said yes, but laid down some rules, along with a fairly tight deadline for finding a job.

As we’d feared when we set the deadline, it came and went without him finding work. My stepson complained that there were few jobs to be had and he was doing his best. His father mentioned a business in town that was hiring. My stepson sputtered and said, “Yeah, but they only pay $X an hour. I could make twice that down at the lumberyard!”

Never mind that he was making $0 an hour, not working at any job. He had standards.

It’s become a running joke between me and my husband. Whenever we see someone refusing to lower their standards, holding out for some wonderful thing and meanwhile having nothing at all, we’ll say, “Yeah, but I could make twice that at the lumberyard!”

Claire asked me to talk about the Journey to Writing today and this is my way of sliding into the topic.
Becoming a writer is a journey, full of small steps, occasional set-backs and the very rare leap forward. Even the writers who appear to be overnight successes never are. The work they’ve put in – all those hours alone, frustrated, painstakingly hacking away at the story – are invisible.

I see hopeful authors asking how to write a novel. Or worse, how to get a novel published that they haven’t even finished. Maybe it’s enough to write 100 words a day. And then get practiced at writing 250 words a day. Work up from there. Once you accumulate enough words, they can be shaped into a story. A story can become a novel. A novel can become a bestseller.

Starting small can work. Better – starting small is doable. Having 100 solid words is worth more than the dream of a novel that doesn’t exist.

And, if you don’t sell that first novel? You can always get a job down at the lumberyard. ;-)

Claire: Very Sound Advice!

Kirliss captured her other wrist and held them close in front of her, his warm fingers massaging her skin, while he studied her face. The boat surged over a wave, disturbing her balance. Kirliss’s unusual eyes caught the light, boring into her.

“This is silly,” she tried.

“Do you want me to make you stay?”

“What?” Taylor choked. She couldn’t let him treat her this way. “No! You’ll do no such—”
She lost her breath entirely when he pressed up against her. Thinking he was trying to embrace her, she pulled away and found herself backed against the brass railing.

By the time she gathered her flustered thoughts, her wrists were handcuffed to the rail behind her. Mortified, a bit afraid and—worse—suddenly and wildly aroused…

About the Author:

Jeffe Kennedy took the crooked road to writing, stopping off at neurobiology, religious studies and environmental consulting before her creative writing began appearing in places like Redbook, Puerto del Sol, Wyoming Wildlife, Under the Sun and Aeon. An erotic novella, Petals and Thorns, came out under her pen name of Jennifer Paris in 2010, heralding yet another branch of her path, into erotica and romantic fantasy fiction. Since then, an erotic short, Feeding the Vampire, and another erotic novella, Sapphire, have hit the shelves.

Jeffe lives in Santa Fe, with two Maine coon cats, a border collie, plentiful free-range lizards and frequently serves as a guinea pig for an acupuncturist-in-training. Find her on Facebook and Twitter (@jeffekennedy) or visit her at her website.
