Hello everyone!  It's snowing here in my hometown, and I can't think of a better way to warm up today, than to curl up with Stacy Gail's Savage Angel.  She's stopped by today to show off her newest release and to tell us a little about the super heroes we fall in love with, as well as the series, The Earth Angels.  She also has a giveaway today, so be sure to read through to the end!

Savage Angel
The Earth Angels, Book II
Carina Press

Feel nothing. Sara Savitch's personal mantra has been hard to live by ever since her torrid one-night stand with army doctor Gideon Mandeville. Descended from the Seraphim, angels known as heaven's soldiers, Sara may be an expert fighter, but she's an amateur when it comes to relationships.

Physically unharmed, but still battle-scarred, Gideon has returned to Dallas in the hopes of regaining his faith in humanity—and in himself. Instead he's walked into a nightmare. His father is on a serial killer's hit list, and has hired a personal bodyguard—the very woman who has haunted Gideon's dreams for a year.

As Sara works to build an impenetrable fortress around her client, she yearns to tear down the one around Gideon's heart. With his bitter rejection of warriors, will he ever be able to accept her true nature? Sara must find a way to trust Gideon with her secret as the killer closes in…

Stacy, the blog is all yours!

Super Powers, Old School-Style!

Before we begin, I’d like to thank Claire for allowing me to bounce onto her blog today to talk about my latest release, SAVAGE ANGEL, book 2 in The Earth Angels series published by Carina Press!

*stands up* Hi. My name is Stacy. And I’ve been a closet geek my whole life.  As a kid, I collected Hello Kitty and Smurfs (if they’re made anywhere other than Germany, DON’T BUY THEM, they have no value).  I can tell you who the original X-Men were, and that Han shot first.  Even better, my geekdom was shared by my brother, the quintessential comic book collector, complete with organized file boxes and plastic sleeves to keep them pristine.  And yeah, I read every single one of those suckers, whether he gave me permission or not!  Where was the harm?  I always put them back into their plastic sleeves. :P

Years ago, when we didn’t have work schedules, kids and deadlines hanging over our head (read: Adult Life), we got to talking about how cool it would be to have “super-powered heroes” from mythology (like Thor) make some kind of appearance in the modern-day world.  And that’s where my idea for the descendants of the original Nephilim first appeared.

Thousands of years ago there was supposedly a race of human-angel hybrids known as the Nephilim—a race that was wiped out by the Great Flood because they weren’t part of heaven’s plan.  But then Goliath, a descendant of the Nephilim, shows up a couple thousand years later, and his very existence proves to biblical scholars that some Nephilim escaped extinction, and procreated.  As a concept, I totally loved it!

In The Earth Angels series, I take this concept and go allllll out. I sat down and imagined in detail what the 21st-century descendants of various angels would be like if I were in charge of the universe.  Then I combined those ideas with the most popular themes of the paranormal world—a superhero, a soldier, a hero struggling with lost powers, and a lover-turned-fighter.  Then, I dreamed up what all paranormal protagonists need—a VILLAIN.  The 2nd story in The Earth Angels series, SAVAGE ANGEL, is the book that officially unveils this villainous threat to all the Nephilim—a threat that was only glimpsed in the first novella, NOBODY’S ANGEL (though I’m sure some sharp-eyed readers have spotted the bad guy by now ^_^).

Luckily Sara Savitch is the one who’s hot on the trail of the danger threatening them all, and no one is better suited to unleash otherworldly war on a vicious enemy.  Sara’s a descendant of the Seraphim, heaven’s soldiers, and hard-wired to protect everyone around her.  There’s no martial art she hasn’t mastered, and no weapon she can’t handle on an expert level.  But when it comes to social skills… oy.  She’s worse than all thumbs, the poor dear.  Her Achilles’ heel is Gideon Mandeville, an Army doctor fresh from the front lines who’s dealing with problems of his own.  Throw in white-hot attraction, a complicated history between these two and a serial killer that might have a demon in his closet, and things get crazy fast for Sara and Gideon.

Now that I’ve finished The Earth Angel series, I’m so thrilled I can now let my geek-flag fly openly and without shame.  There are more of us out there who love the paranormal than you might think, so go ahead and embrace you inner geek.  Come to find out, it’s the new cool.

Question:  Confession time!  Do you have absolute geek-out love for something you keep hidden from your friends and family?  (I think mine is still Hello Kitty :D )

“Let’s make this quick,” she announced without preamble, heading over to the desk and gesturing an invitation toward the chairs on the opposite side of it. “I have a meeting waiting for me, along with about a fifty other things that need to get done before noon. And in future, I’d appreciate it if you would call and make an appointment the next time you want a face-to-face.”

“An appointment? For me?” Refusing to even look at the chairs she’d indicated, Gideon kept his distance and stayed by the windows, his expression so remote he looked as unapproachable as the moon. “Do you insist all your lovers do that, or is it just me?”

She hoped her swift intake of breath was something only she heard. “You’ve made it apparent we don’t have that kind of relationship and after yesterday, I’m forced to agree with you. You’re not my lover, or boyfriend, or even acquaintance. We’re strangers, and I have no problem keeping it that way.”

“Except for the small fact that strangers don’t usually have mind-blowing sex up against the garage wall, do they?”

Her fingers curled into her palms, and she wondered if her face looked as neon-red as it felt. “And here I was, thinking you’d forgotten about that.”

"Victorians used the term 'limbs' as a euphenism for legs, which were thought to be so sexually exciting to a man, even a glimpse of a table leg could incite him to sexual frenzy. Table skirts were invented to prevent any unnatural unions between men and furniture."
